oh.my.gosh.

http://www.shancunninghamphotography.com/sadieoneyear/

the link to see more!!

Today was my most favorite photo shoot of all time. Majority of the time I spent giggling and missed some AMAZING shots, but I got some great ones.

Meet Sadie Lee.

I took her photos when she was just three months old and now she is ONE YEARS OLD!!! Oh my gosh!! Precious baby girl. Sadie is the sweet girl that I was watching the day I found out that I was pregnant with Miss C! Needless to say, Sadie is special to me and her mama is definitely one of my heart friends. You know those friends that you will always keep up with and always love no matter where you are in this crazy world, thats Kelly.

Anyways, is this not the CUTEST photo?! There are many more great ones and I will post the link to her proofs by the end of the night, but I just thought everyone needed to see this!!

17 weeks and 12 pounds... again

Ironically, with my 12 pounds to loss, Carsyn weighed 12 pounds exactly today.

For some reason thats funny to me.

She is healthy as an ox! She is tiny tiny, in the 15-20% percentile which is so strange to me. I was OFF THE CHARTS. I'm talking a big ol baby. The doctor always questioned what my mom was feeding me. Though she did put rice cereal in my bottle when I was 2 weeks old because she wanted me to sleep through the night. Thanks mom ;)
ha!! Kidding

Anyways, she was proud of her strong neck, rolling over and her spunky personality! I am sure that she is as normal as any child, but when your doctor says she is doing awesome, you think your baby is so unique, which she is.

Being a parent is such a proud thing. I am loving it.

Big Day!!

First of all... how yummy is she?!? Oh my goodness I could just eat her up!!

Apparently Carsyn wanted to wake up early because she had a few tricks up her sleeve that she was dying to show mommy today!

To start off she started grabbing toys out of my hand. She usually just swats at them and tries so hard to grab them but can't really grasp it. Today she just snatched them out of my hand and was even picking them up out of her lap. I was impressed!! BUT she had more!!

Then we ventured down to visit Miss Reann and Mara this afternoon and Mara and Carsyn were playing on the floor. Mara is a big girl, 2 months older than Carsyn, and she can sit up! Yea Mara! So I laid Carsyn on her belly in front of Mara and she just rolled on over!! Reann and I were like WHAT THE HECK? So we put her on her belly and she rolled again!! Woo!! And then she was pulling her feet up under her, sticking her butt into the air and acting like she was about to take OFF!! STOP IT!! I cannot handle my baby girl doing these big girl things!!

Anyways, she's been rolling over all afternoon and we cannot wait for daddy to get home to show him!

6 am and Cable...

Carsyn decided to get get up at 6 AM... this is how I feel about that...

So here we are watching the Today show for the first time in 2 years!! DId I mention that we got Cable this week?? Haven't had it since we got married... Get excited!!

12 pounds...

No, this is not a movie review. Though I thought 7 pounds was a great movie. Prepare to cry...

This post is in fact me complaining about my last 12 pounds. All of you mommies out there that lost your weight super fast, good job! I honestly am proud of you! I am unsure what I have done wrong or why these pounds are still there. I know Carsyn is only 3.5 months old, but STILLLLLLL.

I am just in between sizes and it's no fun. I can get my old jeans on but most definitely do not want to be leaving the house with them on. Yikes! I feel like Beyonce. (is this how you spell her name) Seriously.

Anyways, I am going to start blogging more, I have been such a slacker lately.

questions...

Since you grew up in the Midwest but are now a California girl, do you like seafood? What is your favorite kind of food?

~Unfortunately I do not like seafood. I never really have. I will eat Shrimp if it is dipped in some batter and fried. I love Oreos.

How much do you miss me? (from my BFF Kelsey)

~Girl you know how much I miss you! I miss our walks. I miss laying on the couch with you eating queso and guacamole. I miss you always making fun of my big girl panties sticking out of my jeans. I miss going to sonic to get route 44's. I miss how you can always ALWAYS make me laugh. I just miss you like the desert miss the rain girl. Come visit.

So since you're a California girl and all organic and green now, what are a few of your favorite products?

Well... Since you Asked... :)

PANGEA SOAP. This stuff is amazing and it smells so stinking good!!

href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFM_jojniSrF0Dbie4mlF9e_ID01NVGk4AeJ0KdJsOJkhydVKpK9MAtmkDbwnTwAUd56HP8NJYlZtrUldGuwQrklkBxQZ68K9xa6CISumPW-_i1IrWRT1f8i9WnZTSJKAOcYD2BP837mM/s1600-h/MM_LAV_Scr_72.jpg">

Meyer's Surface Cleaner. I don't know if you know, but Comet Cleaner is from the Devil. That stuff is the worst thing in the world for you. Please Please if you have it in your house walk to the cabinet right now and throw it in the trash. Especially if you have sweet babies in your house, YUCK, get it out, it's terrible. Meyer's surface cleaner works wonders. Order it online. I have the lavender and lemon scent... both excellent.

Meyer's Dish soap! Yummy!

Meyer's all purpose cleaner. Extra Yummy! Kills ants too! ;)

Meyer's baby stain remover! So good! Smells like a little baby too! The smell will remind you of your childhood.

Baby Hand Soap. Yummy too! We're out and I miss it!

Best Face Scrub! Pangea

Why did you start blogging?
~I started blogging because I love to read other peoples blogs and thought... what the hey, I will start one too.
But I have also been blogging since my Sophomore Year of College. Xanga, What what!

What has been the biggest surprise since being a new mom? How has motherhood surprised you so far?
~I cannot explain to you how much I love this precious baby girl. I mean I love her with everything in me. I had no idea. Also, I had no idea how much I could care less about me. I don't care how I look. Nothing about me matters.

What are the baby items you really couldn't live without? I'm getting ready to do our baby registry and I just posted a thing about wanting ideas of what we will need....then I found this post! Perfect timing!

I love love love her Bumbo Chair! It is a must! I think I will use it for her High Chair as well.
Love Baby Einstein. She loves it too.
Love her Boppy Swing. She swung in it for an hour this morning. Go Girl!
Can absolutely not live with out her noise Machine. She listens to the waves all night long. We forgot them one night on our trip and we were FREAKING OUT!
Love her Boppy.
Love my BeBe Au Lait (aka Hooter Hider).
Mam Paci's
Madela Pump...
Jogger
Mylicon. Drops.. yup still living off those.
Fenugreek (low milk supply, bummer, I have to take supplements).
Ummm... that's all I can think of right now.

How did you and your husband meet? What made you pick the name Carsyn for your baby? What do you love most about California and what do you hate most? (I grew up in California and now live in Portland and see there are many things that only California has:) )

~How did Drew and I meet. Well... I will give the short story. We met our Freshman year of College. We had our very first college class together. I remember our professor had us go around the room and make up something that went along with our name. When Drew went I wrote on my paper "cutie cutie Drew!" Because he was/is a CUTIE!! Haha! We became good friends over that year, went on a few dates our sophomore year, didn't work out, stayed close then started dating again our Senior year. Now that is the VERY short version of the story. I will have to tell more some other time, though I know I have posted it before somewhere in this blog.
Carsyn-Well, one night we were lying in bed, just barely pregnant and I blurted out the name Carsyn. We both loved it immediately. We had a few back up names incase it didn't fit. I will share them because I know we wont use them later (we already have another girl name if we do have another girl, and don't worry it's CUTE). So the names were Lynnleigh and Lila. Both super cute, but our little girl was just a Carsyn. It fits her so well now.

I love California's weather. Well, I guess that the Bay Area is different than most people's idea of Sunny California. I honestly like the fog, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But I love my sunshine too! There is a perfect balance here. I also love how I could go surfing in the morning, hike in the afternoon, drive 3 hours to Tahoe and Ski or 3 hours to Yosemite and Hike. It's just a great place to be!
Ummm, and I Iove Trader Joes. The End.

What type of work do you do? I'm sure it was hard to go back after having Carsyn. Are you working full-time or part-time?
What type of daycare is she in?

~I work for a non-profit in a small town on the bay called Sausalito. We are called Teens for Safe Cosmetics. We do great things. Our main push right now is our cosmetic line called Teens Turning Green. You can purchase our items at Whole Foods across the Nation and soon in Pottery Barn Teen! Yea! It's a great company, feel free to check us out on the web.
So was it hard to go back? Yes and No. I only work 12 hours a week... so that is da bomb. I work Monday Tuesday Thursday and Drew stays with her. If I didn't know that she was at home bonding with her daddy, then it would be hard. But I am the type of person that needs to work. I need to know that I am making a difference, not that being mommy is not a big enough difference. I need to be out there, plugged in, but that is just me. I think that answers all of the questions beyond that.

How long will you be living on campus? Where will you be living when you move? I demand an answer to these questions!

~Ha! Okay Mr. Hew, I will answer your question. Drew and I plan on living on campus at least another year and a half. I would like to move this summer, just because the market is ripe. But Drew wants to finish up one more year of ThM. We shall see! I believe that we will be living in Santa Cruz or San Diego. Obviously Santa Cruz being our first choice, but we are open to wherever the Lord leads us.

Morning Cup O Joe...

Sometimes when I lay in bed at night, I dream about drinking my morning coffee. No Joke. Obviously when you are dreaming about your morning coffee the night before there is a problem. I just love it! I love the warmness of it, I love the flavor, the stronger the better. MMMMmmm it's just so good!

Blogger...

Man... I have really been out of the loop lately! My apologies to my faithful readers! Life has been a bit on the crazy side since returning home from Christmas Break.

Lately I have been investing majority of my computer time into my photography website. If you haven't checked it out... please do! I have been updating it almost constantly, attempting to have more of a professional feel so I can send my name out there. If you do live in the Bay Area, feel free to pass my site along to anyone you know needing their photos done.

That being said, back to the world of blogging.

Carsyn has been changing so much lately. She has such a sweet little personality. She loves to giggle and get excited! She definitely is knowing who her mommy and daddy are and prefers to be with us over anyone. Her and Drew have been having a lot of fun together on the days that he watches her while I am at work. It's so comforting to know that she is with the only other person on the planet that loves her as much as I do.

Yesterday we spent the day in Santa Cruz hanging out! We hope to move to Santa Cruz within the next year, so we are going to try to get to know the area as best as we can over the next year. Such a fun place! I will post some pictures of our day at the end of the post... or maybe tomorrow b/c my external hard drive isn't plugged in.

Anyways, it's 4:00 A.M. and I am up feeding Carsyn. She is just doing one feeding during her 12-13 hour sleeping span... I am fine with that... as long as she keeps sleeping this long! Anyways, I apologies if this post doesn't make sense, as it is... 4:00 A.M.

peace for now...

shan

Fridays...

I think that I am going to love Fridays this semester. Yes, I still think in Semesters because Drew is still in school. Anyways, we both have Friday off and today was our first Friday, well actually first day, to enjoy together since getting home from our visit to the Midwest. Drew started J-term and I started work the day we got back. Needless to say our lives have been on over drive since our return. Last night we decided we would try to sleep in as late as we could. Since having Carsyn I haven't slept past 8, and 8 being sleeping in. So around 9:30 Carsyn was ready to be up. (crazy, I know, she's been a sleep monster lately, slept from 8-5:30 last night) Drew grabbed her out of bed and plopped her between us. She played with her hands for awhile slapped us in the face a few times, let out of few toots and then she was back out. Finally at 11:15 we all woke up! ELEVEN FIFTEEN! How amazing is that?! I haven't done that since I was around 6 months pregnant.

Today I feel like I am floating on a cloud or something. Gosh, to be rested is so great. On top of that I decided I would weigh this morning. Weighing is stupid I think, but I am anxious to get back to my pre baby weight and I was curious what was happening. I was incredibly surprised when the scale said I had lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks?? Is that a joke? I kept getting off then back on to make sure. Incredibly vain I know, but I was excited! About 9 more to go and I will be happy!

Tomorrow I am doing a friends Maternity pictures and I cannot wait!! Firs photo shoot with the new camera!! Hope everyone is well! I will be answering all the questions on Monday... so if there are anymore, send them in!!

I leave you with a cute little pic of Miss C

Strange yet awesome night...

Sooo since returning from our visit South, Carsyn has not been the best sleeper or napper. She basically refuses to nap, and she is waking up at all hours of the night to feed. I am not a happy person if I don't get much sleep, plus I have started back to work, so these two combinations are no bueno.

Anyways, last night she impressed me. She stayed up until 8:00 (she usually hits the hay by 6:30). Around eleven she usually wakes up pissed off and ready to eat again. It's so hard because I've usually be in bed for about 30 minutes, and you know that first sleep when you are sleeping as hard as a rock, thats where I am. So she started fussing at 11:00 and I was just brushing my teeth for bed at this point. I ran in, popped the paci in and snuck out, I didn't hear another peep. Success!!! 3:30 rolls around which is her usual awake time. I hear her fussing through the monitor and I know that I need to get up, but I fall back asleep for a few minutes. I wake to no fussy noises. Strange. So I sneak in her room to find her sleeping but on her side??? Umm, baby girl how did you get like that??? Being half asleep and not thinking logically I go get Drew to show her to him. We are both dumb founded and take a vote to roll her back over. So I CAREFULLY roll her back over. She starts squirming and rolls back to her side. Impressive! Guess she learned how to roll to her side, I just haven't been paying attention.

Finally at 5:00 she's ready to eat. I didn't mind because my body is used to feeding her at 3, so I was grateful... I was also grateful for the sleep!! Go Carsyn!!

I want to play!!!

Soo copying two of my favorite blogger friends (Katie and Whitney)... lets play a game!!

Ask me any question! I love reading peoples blogs and I am always full of questions for my blog friends... so I can only imagine you might have one question for me. Obviously within the means of appropriateness please.

Ask away!

(how embarrassing if no one asked a question...I will totally delete the post and pretend this didn't happen.)

One year ago...

About a year ago Drew and I found out that we were pregnant with our precious baby girl (see photo below if you don't know the meaning of the word precious). I cannot begin to explain to you the emotions that went through me the first few days of knowing that I was pregnant. Drew and I had been married just shy of seven months and were on the 5 year plan. Meaning, no baby for 5 years. We both had big dreams. Drew was in the middle of school and I was in the middle of a long interview process for my dream job. I would have been planning one of the main events for the American Heart Associations in the North Bay. The interview process was down to me and another lady. Needless to say the other lady got the job, which was such a blessing in disguise... but I was heart broken.
The day I found out I didn't get the job (the day before I found out I was with child) I cried. I cried so hard I felt like my eye balls were going to fall out (in the words of Emily). I laid in bed that night and Drew just sat there and stroked my hair, unsure what was happening to his emotional new bride. I was a day late on my period but thought nothing of it because I was under a lot of stress (no job) and I had just lost about ten pounds, which can mess with your cycle.
For some reason on my way home from another job interview I stopped by Longs Drug and grabbed a test. I knew it would be negative, I just wanted to make SURE. That day I baby sat my sweet friend Kelly's week old baby girl Sadie. I remember she was a bit fussy and she pooped all over me. I thought to myself while I was watching her, I am most definitely not ready to be a mommy. Little did I know, my baby girl Carsyn was already growing inside of me.
After finishing with Sadie I headed home to take the test. I was on the phone with my friend Pash and had to pee. I told her I would call her back because I was going to take the test... which she assured me would be negative. So I peed on the stick and I really think that I just threw it on the counter and moved on to another task. I came back a few minutes later to a very very DARK plus mark. I dug the instructions out of the trash can in disbelief. Surely I had read the instructions wrong, a plus mark meant not pregnant.... RIGHT??? Nope, a plus mark does mean that you are indeed pregnant. I PANICKED.
I called Drew, who was at work on campus. I told him he needed to come home immediately. He tried to explain that he couldn't but I started screaming in the phone GET HOME RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE!!! Within minutes he was home to find me sobbing on the bed pointing to the bathroom. He knew what I meant.. and just scooped me up (again) and let me cry.
He was so good in the moment. He told me that everything was going to be okay, that this was obviously the Lords plan, and that we were going to be fine. His strength is really what helped me get through it those first few days.
Slowly but surely I got more excited about being pregnant. How cool to be carrying around in my belly a little half me half Drew. I remember at our first appointment I just giggled in disbelief. As my belly (and butt) grew... I fell more in love with this baby that we had named Baby C.
It's funny because when I try to remember back to being pregnant with this "baby c" I don't really remember who I thought baby C was. I definitely though that baby C was a boy and that he would be named Cruz. But she sure surprised us.
Anyways, I cannot believe that it has been a year. Time flies. All of my pregnant friends out there... enjoy your last few days of being just you and your husband. Enjoy getting to brush your hair and teeth in the same day. Enjoy getting to actually enjoy your food. Sleep. Go on a date with your husband. Wear a shirt that isn't stained with spit up or droll.

BUT KNOW that the sweetest days of your life are about to come. :)

Having a Photographer for a Mommy isn't that bad... RIGHT??

This morning the ambient light coming into our house was perfect and we were both in good moods... so why not have a photo shoot?! I have been dying to use my new camera... but don't have a real photo shoot until next weekend...

Here are a few of my favorites from today... She's getting soo big!! 14 weeks on Sunday!

Giggles and Kelsey

About three days ago my sweet girl started giggling. My friend Kelsey and I were on a walk... wait let me tell you a bit about Kelsey and I. When we get together, you don't really want to be around. We have far too much in common and when we get going... WE GET GOING. We had lots to catch up on as she had just returned from her honeymoon in Paradise. ;)

So back to the giggles. Kelsey and I were chatting away and I was carrying Precious (aka Carsyn) in her baby carrier in front of me. Kelsey and I were talking with our hands lots and at this particular time of day our shadows were in front of us. Carsyn had been keeping to herself until all the sudden we heard these shrills coming out of her. We both stopped dead in our tracks and asked WAS THAT A LAUGH???? Kelsey caught on that it was our shadows making her laugh and she went to town flailing her arms around. Carsyn was giggling away. We were both laughing so hard with her as well. Such a sweet moment.

Kelsey was not only the first to get her to laugh, she was the first person to feel her laugh, I mean kick, when she was in my belly.

Hope you get to hear the sweet giggles from my precious girl some day!
